We’re thrilled to welcome Dashel Lewis as the new Policy and Advocacy Coordinator at the Diverse Elders Coalition. Dashel brings a strong foundation in legislative and policy work that directly aligns with the DEC’s mission to uplift racially and ethnically diverse older adults, LGBTQ+ communities, and family caregivers. His experience as a Legislative Aide and as a Policy Associate at the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) has grounded him in advancing equity-centered policies—particularly in areas that impact low-income communities, access to public benefits, and inclusive aging supports.
At a time when the political landscape demands both urgency and care, Dashel’s expertise in coalition management, federal policy tracking, and community-focused advocacy will be instrumental in strengthening our collective voice on Capitol Hill and beyond.
Dashel’s prior experience working in constituent services with vulnerable and marginalized older adult and caregiver populations informs his passion and dedication to DEC’s issues, specifically promoting policies that support older adults in living healthy, thriving lives. His deep understanding of the policy barriers faced by underserved communities—and his commitment to advancing equitable, community-driven solutions—aligns with the DEC’s mission to ensure that all older adults, regardless of race, ethnicity, or identity, can age with dignity and support. The DEC is excited to bring Dashel onboard to continue our mission and help achieve our goals.
