FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) Receives Funding from Next50

New York, New York – November 3rd, 2025 Diverse Elders Coalition has received funding from Next50, a national foundation based in Colorado that supports efforts to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers. This funding will allow The Diverse Elders Coalition to advance its effort to support older adults in diverse communities represented by the DEC.

“We’re committed to meeting the unique and varied needs of older adults in our communities, Together with Next50, we’re addressing three critical priorities — ending ageism, advancing digital equity, and supporting aging in place — through advocacy, education, and storytelling, said Didier Trinh, National Director, Diverse Elders Coalition. “This investment from Next50 will enable us to develop a range of materials, from policy resources to multimedia campaigns, that uplift the voices of diverse elders while equipping communities and decision-makers with the tools to build a more inclusive and equitable future of aging.”

The collaboration between Next50 and the Diverse Elders Coalition will allow us to advance a shared vision of a more equitable future for diverse older adults. Together, we are advancing opportunities for diverse older adults and caregivers by confronting ageism, expanding digital access, and supporting aging in place. This partnership united Next 50’s commitment to innovation and systems change with the DEC’s national advocacy for racially, ethnically, and LGBTQ+ communities.

“It’s expensive to age in this country,” said Peter Kaldes, President & CEO of Next50. “That’s why we seek partners like the Diverse Elders Coalition who will change the status quo and help create a world that values aging.”

About the Diverse Elders Coalition

The Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) advocates for policies and programs that improve aging in our communities as racially and ethnically diverse people; American Indians and Alaska Natives; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender people.

Together, we are made up of six national organizations representing a growing majority of millions of older people throughout the country: American Indian and Alaska Native Elders; Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian older adults; Black and African American older adults; Hispanic and Latinx older adults; and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) older adults. We have come together to promote policy changes and programmatic solutions that respond to this demographic shift and will remove the barriers facing our communities. We envision a world where all older adults can live full and active lives as they age.

About Next50

Colorado-based national foundation that works toward a society that values aging and makes growing older an empowering, fulfilling experience. Today, our systems in the U.S. don’t prioritize our economic well-being as we age, which causes widespread economic hardship for older adults and their families. That’s why we focus on funding innovative and equitable programs that create economic opportunity for older adults, especially in low-income communities and communities of color. We fund programming in three key areas: ending age-related bias and discrimination; advancing digital equity so technology is available to all; and making it possible for people to age where they want to live. To learn more, visit www.Next50foundation.org.
